MAKING IT: Designer Challenge

Leritz and Ehlin, the brains behind Kiln Enamel in Brooklyn, New York, design elegand tableware and jewwelry for the likes of Bergdorf Goodman and Calvin Klein Home. Their take on the lowbrow toilet is equally high-minded--at least at first glance. The toilet paper doubles as a note pad, allowing the busy POTUS to draft a "to doo-doo list." And if need be, the VP is just a call away on the red emergency phone. So what inspired such a left-leaning potty? "We're a very liberal company and usually spend our lunchtime discussing politics," Ehlin explains. "Plus, there's been too much political crap flying around this year." At least this duo practices what they preach: "We give our employees Election Day off to vote," Ehlin says.
